The Fantasticks is an
allegorical story concerning two neighbouring fathers who put up a
wall between their houses to ensure their children fall in
love, knowing that children always do what their parents
forbid. All goes to plan until the children discover their
fathers' plot and each goes off to experience the world. They finally
return to each other and the love they had, having learned to recognize their true feelings. The Fantasticks first played in New York nearly fifty years ago and has since become the longest running show of any kind in the United States and the longest running musical in the world. It has played in over 2000 cities and towns in the States, in more than 10,000 productions. More than 700 productions have been staged internationally in 67 countries. |
