| L. Frank Baum's classic 'The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz' was revisited when Gregory Maguire's
1995 novel, 'Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of
the West', created "one of the great heroines of fantasy
literature" (Los Angeles Times), explaining how a
misunderstood green girl named Elphaba became 'wicked' and how her
unlikely friend, Glinda, became 'good'. Winning 15 major awards, this "spectacular spectacle" (New York Post) transports audiences to a fantasy land of wizardry and witchcraft with Grammy Award-winning music, Tony Award-winning sets and costumes, and stunning special effects. The cast includes Alexia Khadime, Dianne Pilkington and Oliver Tompsett under the direction of Joe Mantello. The exceptional team that has brought this captivating story to life on stage includes many of Broadway's most celebrated talents: the Oscar and Grammy Award-winning composer and Lyricist STEPHEN SCHWARTZ (Godspell, Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt), writer WINNIE HOLZMAN (My So-Called Life, The Wonder Years, Thirtysomething), scenic designer EUGENE LEE (Tony Award-winner for Candide, the original Sweeney Todd and Wicked), costume designer SUSAN HILFERTY (Into The Woods, Tony Award-winner for Wicked), lighting designer KENNETH POSNER (The Odd Couple, Hairspray), and choreographer WAYNE CILENTO (Disney's Aida and a Tony Award-winner and Olivier Award nominee for The Who's Tommy). |
